NEA Society

Founded in 1974. Members are from all over New England, and beyond.

The Northeastern Avicultural Society is a
non-profit, member supported society.

Important Notice about Mandatory Bird Testing

You have to be a member to buy or sell birds at the club to meet the club's insurance requirements. Additionally, all birds require pullorum-typhoid and avian influenza testing (MGL Chapter 129 § 1 and MGL Chapter 129 § 26B). You must have a certification card with you to sell. Birds can be sold without certification if sold directly to slaughter within 72 hours. With the outbreak of pullorum in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, the state may come in and shut down the club for selling untested birds. And no one wants to buy untested or sick birds. Massachusetts offers free blood testing. Contact Esther Wegman ( or 617-626-1795) for poultry blood test services. Visit the MDAR for further details.
